Elementary STEM teacher

Welcome to STEM From The Heart!

Throughout my 19-year journey in elementary education, I often felt restless and sometimes a little bored causing me to move from grade to grade and subject to subject in search of my ideal teaching niche. Then, one remarkable day, everything clicked, and I discovered my true passion: STEM!

I love how STEM sparks creativity and critical thinking in young minds. But the real magic lies in witnessing those little ones navigate the challenging terrain of teamwork, emerging on the other side with a sense of comradery as they learn and explore together!  It's all about that social emotional learning in STEM!

What is quality STEM

STEM education is like a treasure chest of fun, especially for little learners who get a kick out of crafting towers with toothpicks and marshmallows! While these sticky creations spark creativity, there is potential for deeper, more enriching STEM experiences just waiting to take their learning to the next level!

STEM is a Spectrum of Experiences

Sure, sometimes STEM looks like a tornado hit the classroom with kids building and materials flying everywhere—chaos galore! But that's just a tiny slice of the STEM pie!

A quality STEM experience is a structured collection of activities that focus on problem-solving and the exploration of scientific phenomena, allowing students to do the work of scientists and engineers. They investigate the causes of problems and design solutions to enhance the world while using technology and math skills.  Yes, even at the youngest of ages, this is possible!

STEM prepares children for the future

STEM careers are like shiny rockets ready to blast off into the future, and guess what? Many of the jobs our kiddos will have aren't even imaginable yet! So, how do we tackle this wild mission of prepping our students for the great unknown?

Have no fear, it’s not actually as overwhelming as it seems! No matter what job comes knocking, thinking caps will be a must. It's absolutely crucial to kickstart those critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills while they're still young!  STEM is like the ultimate sidekick for this mission!  By teaching kids to channel their inner scientists and engineers and engage in the science and engineering practices, we’re giving them the ultimate toolkit for future success!
